Task Processing

VCM Attributes for ConstructSim Planner provide a mechanism to add intelligence to the VCM. VCM Attributes are especially critical for task generation and automated creation of user defined groups.

Task Processing enables work package development within ConstructSim Planner at the level of weekly work plans. It also generates a database of Work Steps or Tasks for planning and tracking of construction activities associated with pipe at the detailed level of individual spools, valves, bolt-ups, welds, supports, etc.

Work Steps (Tasks) reference material components in the VCM. The standard reference material for Piping is the ISO_Component (or Pipe Takeoff Item) like PIPE_SPOOL, PIPE_WELD, PIPE_BOLTUP, PIPE_LINEITEM, PIPE_SUPPORT and PIPE_FIELDRUN. For Steel, the reference material component is STEEL_ASSEMBLY. Work Steps have attributes for budgeted quantity, units of measure (UOM), and associated estimated hours to execute the work and are logically organized by Activity Models which consist of the activity type and discipline.

Within an Activity Model, there are a number of Typical Work Steps (Tasks) that are associated with individual pipe ISO Component Types. These can vary within an Activity Model based on the type of ISO Component.

The Task Processing workflow section in ConstructSim Executive calls the utility module Work Details Converter to generate the database of work steps. The Work Details Converter uses the SPURT (Standard Unit Rate Tables) for Pipe and ISO Component Data as input. The SSURT and (Structural Steel Assembly Data) is used for steel.
